All New Energy Star House at the Eco Experience at the Minnesota State Fair

St. Paul, MI – August 30, 2010 – (RealEstateRama) — For the first time at the Eco Experience at the Minnesota State Fair, an interactive Energy Star house will guide visitors through simple, everyday ways they can cut their own energy use.

The hands-on exhibit is modeled after an energy-efficient home. It is composed of environmentally-friendly building materials, and shows how using energy-efficient practices and products are the first steps toward saving both energy and money.

Fairgoers can take a room-by-room tour and learn about programmable thermostats that save up to $180 a year, energy-efficient lighting that can save up to $70 a year, Energy Star qualified heating and cooling equipment that can cut energy bills by up to $200 a year, and the latest in sealing air leaks and adding insulation, which can cut a home energy bill by 10 percent.

The Energy Star House exhibit travels around the country, but has never before been in the Midwest. Minnesota-based 3M, which manufactures some of the house’s energy-saving features such as special window films and air filters, is the exhibit’s sponsor.
