BURNSVILLE, MN – September 29, 2010 – (RealEstateRama) — Congressman John Kline announced that Carver, Dakota, Goodhue, Le Sueur, Rice, and Scott Counties are among the 35 Minnesota counties being assessed for flood damage. Homeowners or renters who suffered flood damage are encouraged to report the damage to their local officials so it can be included in the assessments.
On Friday, Kline was in contact with Goodhue County Sheriff Dean Albers, Rice County Sheriff Dick Cook, Le Sueur County Sheriff Tom Doherty, and Carver County Sheriff Bud Olson about conditions throughout the 2nd district. Also on Friday, Minnesota Department of Public Safety Homeland Security and Emergency Management coordinating officer Kris Eide sent a letter to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) asking that individual and public assistance preliminary damage assessments be conducted in 35 counties.
Members of Kline’s staff were briefed by FEMA today, on the emergency response process and preliminary damage assessment procedures.
“My thoughts and prayers continue to be with the victims and communities who suffered flood damage as well as those still fighting the rising waters along the Minnesota and Mississippi Rivers,” Kline said. “I would also like to thank the numerous emergency responders and members of the Minnesota National Guard who answered the call to serve the men and women in their communities.”
In his fourth term in Congress, John Kline is the top Republican on the House Education and Labor Committee. He is also a member of the House Armed Services Committee.
