Hennepin Avenue between Washington Avenue and 12th Street is slated for a reconstruction in 2020. The reconstruction provides an opportunity to move existing curb lines and design the street for current and future needs. On average, people make 48,000 trips on the street every day, including 8,100 transit trips, 7,600 pedestrian trips and 1,300 bicycle trips. The project seeks to provide:

Sidewalk area to support pedestrian traffic and space for plantings and furnishings.
Space for enhanced transit stops.

A protected bikeway separated from motor vehicle traffic.
A roadway design that can maintain an acceptable level of transit and motor vehicle traffic.
