Mortgage Loan Officers Plead Guilty in $1.8 Million Mortgage Fraud

MINNEAPOLIS - August 15, 2012 - (RealEstateRama) -- Yesterday in federal court, two mortgage loan officers pleaded guilty to recruiting straw buyers to purchase properties at inflated prices and then distributing the excess loan funds among themselves, the straw buyers, and others involved in the scheme. Chad Arthur Anderson, age 38, and Troy Allen Huston, age 42, both of Chisago City, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit mortgage fraud through the use of interstate wires. The two were indicted on April 3, 2012, and entered their pleas before United States District Court Judge Joan N. Ericksen.

Inver Grove Heights Man Indicted in Mortgage Fraud Scam

MINNEAPOLIS - July 16, 2012 - (RealEstateRama) -- A federal indictment recently unsealed charges an Inver Grove Heights man in connection with soliciting buyers to purchase properties at inflated prices in a multi-million-dollar mortgage fraud scheme. On July 11, 2012, Christopher Jon Andrews, age 53, was charged with one count of conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud, four counts of mortgage fraud through interstate wire, and three counts of mortgage fraud through mail. The indictment, which was filed on July 10, 2012, was unsealed following Andrews’s initial appearance in federal court.

Savage Man Sentenced for Participating in $13 Million Mortgage Fraud Scheme

MINNEAPOLIS, MN - April 3, 2012 - (RealEstateRama) -- Earlier today in federal court, a 37-year-old Savage man was sentenced for participating in a $13 million mortgage fraud scheme that involved no fewer than 25 properties in Prior Lake, Savage, and Minnetonka, among other Minnesota communities. United States District Court Judge Ann D. Montgomery sentenced Ericvan Anthony McDavid to 45 months on one count of wire fraud. He was indicted, along with two co-defendants, on June 15, 2010 and pleaded guilty on January 26, 2011.

Minnesota Couple Indicted for Orchestrating $5 Million Mortgage Fraud Scam

MINNEAPOLIS, MN - October 19, 2011 - (RealEstateRama) -- Earlier today in federal court, a Minnesota couple was indicted in connection with a $5 million mortgage fraud scheme. James Warren Hoffman, age 51, and his wife, Teresa Gay Hoffman, age 52, both of Stillwater, were indicted on one count of conspiracy to commit mortgage fraud through the use of interstate wire and nine counts of mortgage fraud through interstate wire.

Man Charged in $20 Million Mortgage Fraud Scheme

MINNEAPOLIS, MN - June 17, 2011 - (RealEstateRama) -- Yesterday in federal court in Minneapolis, a Maple Grove real estate appraiser and a real estate agent from St. Cloud were indicted in connection with a $1.8 million mortgage fraud scheme that involved 28 properties. Ryan Daryl Krutzig, age 31, of Maple Grove, and Jesse Scott Hoffman, age 32, of St. Cloud, were charged with five counts of wire fraud in connection to the scam. In addition, Krutzig was charged with four counts of mail fraud and two counts of money laundering.

April 22, 2011 - (RealEstateRama) -- Earlier today in federal court in St. Paul, three people were charged with orchestrating a scheme to defraud mortgage lenders out of approximately $4.2 million relative to a Minnetonka development. Sheri Lynn Delich, age 45, of Apple Valley; My Dinh Lam, age 30; of Minneapolis; and Ashley Elizabeth Prasil, age 26, of Eden Prairie, were charged via an information with one count of conspiracy to commit mortgage fraud. April 18, 2011 - (RealEstateRama) -- Earlier today in federal court in Minneapolis, a 49-year-old Champlin woman pleaded guilty to her role in a mortgage fraud scheme involving at least 200 properties—principally in north Minneapolis—and mortgage proceeds of approximately $35 million. Gayle Deann Claus pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud. Claus, who was indicted on June 15, 2010, along with two co-defendants, entered her plea before United States District Court Judge David S. Doty.

Alexandria Man Sentenced for $800,000 Mortgage-Fraud Scheme

October 7, 2010 - (RealEstateRama) -- A 61-year-old Alexandria man was sentenced earlier today in federal court in Minneapolis on charges connected to a scheme to defraud mortgage lenders and others out of more than $800,000. United States District Court Judge Joan N. Ericksen sentenced Dale Charles Dodge, Jr., to 34 months in prison on one count of wire fraud and one count of engaging in a monetary transaction with property derived from unlawful activity, commonly referred to as money laundering. Dodge was indicted on September 15, 2009, and pled guilty on May 12, 2010.
