WASHINGTON, DC - January 31, 2012 - (RealEstateRama) -- Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.) joined 103 members of Congress today to urge President Obama to help Minnesotans heat their homes during winter. The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) helps low-income families and seniors with their energy bills, which is crucial during cold Minnesota winters. The number of families eligible for the program vastly exceeds the funds available. This funding remains a lifeline during the economic downturn as energy costs continue to rise.

ST. PAUL, MN - December 15, 2010 - (RealEstateRama) -- The Minnesota Department of Commerce, Office of Energy Security (OEs) today announced Minnesota will receive an additional $21.6 million in federal Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) funds for the Minnesota Energy Assistance Program (EAP). When added to the $64.8 million in federal funds already received by the state, this allocation brings the total for the current heating season to $86.4 million.

PAUL, MN - October 29, 2010 - (RealEstateRama) -- The Minnesota Department of Commerce, Office of Energy Security (OES) today announced the state will soon receive its first installment of federal Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) funds for the Minnesota Energy Assistance Program (EAP).In its first release of funds for the 2011 program year, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, which funds LIHEAP, has allocated $64.8 million to Minnesota. Additional funds will be disbursed to the state throughout the program year.
