ROSEVILLE, Minn. – June 1, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — Motorists traveling on eastbound Highway 5 between Fort Snelling and St. Paul will encounter an overnight detour Wednesday, June 3 and Thursday, June 4.

Eastbound Highway 5 between Highway 55 and Davern Street will close each night from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning while crews finish removing an abandoned water main from the Highway 5 bridge. Westbound Highway 5 will remain open during this time.

Eastbound Highway 5 motorists will be detoured to:

  • Eastbound Highway 55
  • Eastbound Highway 110
  • Northbound Interstate 35E

The work is part of a two-year construction project on Highway 5 that also includes:

  • Reconstructing the westbound Highway 5 bridge deck.
  • Repairing both Mississippi River Boulevard/Shepard Road bridge decks over Highway 5.
  • Repairing the Edgcumbe Road bridge deck over Highway 5.
  • Resurfacing Highway 5 between the Mississippi River and Munster Avenue.

Work is scheduled for completion in November 2016, weather permitting.

The project will increase the lifespan of the bridges and concrete pavement on Highway 5.
