KLOBUCHAR WELCOMES HOME NINE-YEAR-OLD BOY ADOPTED FROM THE DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF THE CONGO BY...
Senator Amy Klobuchar is welcoming home Mardoche, a nine-year-old boy adopted from the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) by a Rochester family who finally came home to Minnesota over the weekend. Many adoptions from the DRC have been held up for years since adoptions from the DRC were halted in 2013. Klobuchar, a co-chair of the Congressional Coalition on Adoption, has been a strong advocate for adoptive families and children and has worked closely with adoptive Minnesota families to help them bring their children home from the DRC and other counties abroad.

Registration Now Open for Governor’s Water Summit
Registration is now open for the Governor’s Water Summit, which will take place on Saturday, February 27, 2016. The summit will focus public attention on the serious challenges facing Minnesota’s water supplies – in both rural and urban areas of the state – and continue statewide dialogue around steps that must be taken to address those challenges. County Board approves 2016 budget with 0 percent levy increase
The St. Louis County Board has approved its 2016 budget in the amount of $358,733,410. Of most significance to tax payers is the fact that it includes no change in the levy, which will translate into a decrease in the county portion of property tax statements for most residents and business owners.

DNR taking further steps to reduce risk of starry stonewort spread
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is taking additional measures in response to the discovery of starry stonewart in Lake Koronis, Stearns County. The DNR will treat the invasive algae in front of the main public access at Lake Koronis, as part of an expanded effort to reduce the risk that it will spread to other bodies of water.
DNR seeks applications for OHV grants
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is seeking applications for grants to support off-highway vehicle (OHV) trail projects and new trail proposals. Application forms for projects on existing trails are due to a Parks and Trails Division area supervisor’s office each year by Nov. 30.
